Hi, Book Besties! I’m back, and if you saw my last post, you know I’ve been utterly consumed by the dark, twisted world of Legacy of Gods (a.k.a. the book that lives rent-free in my nightmares). I just finished the terrifying roller coaster that is chapters 8 through 10, and honestly, my heart rate hasn’t stabilized since.
This section? It wasn’t just plot progression; it was an emotional demolition derby. We got capture, cruelty, shocking feelings, and a plot twist so huge I had to check my ceiling for cameras. Grab your darkest coffee and buckle up, because we need to talk about the three moments that completely wrecked me.
Despite witnessing Killian’s sadistic nature and knowing he’s tied to a powerful mafia group, Glyndon starts the most dangerous free-fall of all: falling in love with him.
This is the psychological brilliance of dark romance! The fear, the adrenaline, the forced proximity, the intensity—it all combines into this twisted cocktail of trauma bond and forbidden desire. She knows he’s cruel. She knows he’s dangerous. But he’s also the most compelling, captivating thing in her life, and she realizes: she loves him.
The inner turmoil is what slayed me. She’s desperately wondering if a man built purely of darkness and violence is capable of loving her back. It’s heartbreaking because we, the readers, are right there with her, hoping for that sliver of redemption, that tiny crack in his icy armor that will let her love penetrate. This is the moment the stakes shift from physical danger to emotional annihilation. If he can’t love her, this realization will utterly destroy her.
Chapters 8-10 were a relentless psychological assault. We had high-stakes capture, devastating emotional realization, and a plot twist that completely flipped the hero/villain dynamics on their head. I’m scared, I’m obsessed, and I’m ready to dive into the next chapter, even if I need to read it from behind a pillow!
What was your biggest freak-out moment? Was it Devlin being alive, or Glyndon realizing she loves the monster? Let me know in the comments—I need to know I’m not the only one completely unhinged by this book! 👇
